Wealth Matters Little Without Health

sickness1

Did you think I forgot my promise?

On Monday one of the things I said in the video is that I’ll publish on Tuesday as usual.

Then I didn’t.

Let me tell you why.

Monday was lovely; we celebrated my birthday by going out to an Italian restaurant. What can I say?

The food was great, the service good and the opportunity to have a good chat with my grown up sons was absolutely priceless.

On Tuesday morning, I wasn’t feeling too good.

By Tuesday lunch time I was feeling really sick. Still managed to get through the working day but by the time I got home I knew things are really bad.

Then I spend an hour or so curled up on the bathroom floor; and this is when I wasn’t retching and hugging the toilet.

Anyway, you get the picture.

Had to cancel all my appointments for today, tomorrow’s teaching and all…

Slept most of today and going to bed very soon again.

And this is just a flu.

This episode reminded me that we, humans, are very fragile and that I’m moving into an age group for which health is not a given – we have to work at it.

So once I’m over this flu I’ll be back in the gym.

Because without health, wealth matters very little.

  1. I hope you feel better soon Maria. You’re right, as we reach ‘a certain age’ our health becomes more fragile, and also more important to our overall happiness. I started hitting the gym again this spring — lifting weights a lot more this time. As a result I can schlepp my suitcases around with a lot less shoulder and neck pain.

    Health is everything, take care.
